Learning more about the history of the NASA space program and military fighter jets is something that most find interesting. When we discovered we could do both of these AND learn more about our solar system, we were excited to visit the Tulsa Air & Space Museum (TASM).
The Tulsa Air & Space Museum is a perfect way to spend some time in Tulsa. In the museum you will find retired fighter jets and NASA equipment along with other historic displays. In the planetarium, learn about the stars and space travel in displays and full ceiling video movies.
The Museum
Not only does Tulsa Air & Space Museum have great exhibits, it is staffed with volunteers who can answer any question you might have. As we looked at all of the planes, it was fun to watch the curiosity peak with my kids. They had more questions than I did once they started getting into it and the volunteers were more than happy to answer them!
Check out some of the exhibits in the photos below:
You can actually climb stairs and take a look inside the cockpit below:
I was amazed at the amount of controls and buttons that is packed into such a small space. There is no way that I would be able to be a fighter pilot! I’m certain that my claustrophobia would be in full swing!
James E. Bertelsmeyer Planetarium
When we were done at the museum, we headed over to the planetarium. Not only do they have some interesting exhibits there as well, but they have multiple shows to watch.
Each person gets one show with their entry fee into the planetarium, but you can purchase more if you like.
The boys also had fun using the ‘clock’ outside of the planetarium to determine what time it was! ⬇️Locate the month on the middle part of the display and put your arms straight up. Your arm shadows will tell the time!
We had a great (and educational) time at the Tulsa Air & Space Museum. We all learned something that we didn’t know before we went!
